CKROX Desk One

Here it is!

The desk. The ckrox desk.

CKROX Desk need VS want

I needed a workspace that was as versatile as my creative process. My goal was to design a desk that served as a viable multi-monitor workstation but didn't anchor me to one spot. I wanted a piece that allowed my studio space to feel alive and organic. The end result is capable of shifting from a digital design lab to an open VR arena to a painting studio in seconds.

Designed on paper, meticulously built down to the screws in 3D, and fabricated by hand, this desk is a functional tool that manages privacy, power, and spatial dynamics. It is designed to be a conversation starter that proves a workspace can be both heavy-duty and light on its feet.

Work In Progress

Some in-progress images in no particular order:

Adaptive Mobility

Since my work involves Virtual Reality, floor space is a premium. I designed the frame on heavy-duty, locking casters that allow me to roll the entire workstation around the studio with ease. This modularity means I can expand the room for VR or painting projects, then roll the desk back into 'focus mode' when it's time to jam on a Blender project.

Industrial Privacy

To separate my 'head-down' workspace from the gallery side of the studio, I integrated a large sheet of perforated metal. It provides a visual privacy without blocking light or airflow. It hides the clutter of the monitors from the client area while adding a distinct industrial texture to the room.

Precision Fabrication

The surface is constructed from heavy butcherblock, requiring a unique joinery solution. I utilized high-tension countertop connectors (zip-bolts) routed directly into the wood to pull the slabs together seamlessly. This ensures a perfectly flat, tight bond that can withstand the daily wear of a working artist.

Integrated Systems

A messy desk kills creativity. I designed the structure with a 'one-plug' philosophy. The entire desk runs off a single heavy-duty outlet, feeding into an onboard cable management system tray hidden underneath. The tower PC rests on a custom floating trundle, keeping it off the floor for better airflow and dust reduction, while moving in sync with the rest of the unit.

From Concept to Completion

From concept sketch to final polish, this desk captures my entire creative workflow. I used 3D modeling to visualize the dimensions and complex joinery, ensuring the fabrication phase was seamless. It confirms that my grasp of form and space isn't limited to a monitor. It extends fully into the physical world.
